Pine Island Pine Island is the largest island (17 miles long and 2 miles wide) on the west coast of Florida, just minutes from Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Sport fishermen long ago discovered the abundance of snook, redfish, seatrout, grouper, snapper, cobia, mackerel, barracuda, blacktip shark, sheepshead, seabass and many others in the Pine Island Sound, San Carols Bay, Matlacha Pass, Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. The shallow waters surrounding Pine Island make our Carolina Skiff the ideal boat for fishing these areas. The sport of Tarpon fishing originated in Pine Island Sound in the late 1880's. Boca Grande pass (just 20 minutes across Pine Island Sound from Bokeelia) is considered the "Tarpon Capitol of the World" |
